Troy, NY – A five run sixth inning helped the Union College baseball team upset No. 10 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Sunday during game one of the team's doubleheader. The Engineers rallied for a 19-5 win during the nightcap, moving Union's record to 6-16 overall and 3-11. RPI goes to 24-8 and 17-2.
The Dutchmen entered the top of the sixth inning trailing, 6-4. Doubles by freshman

Paul Mene led to two runs. Junior
John Johnson followed Mene with another double to give Union a 7-4 lead. Finally, junior
Andy Brown hit the team's fourth double in the inning to score senior

RPI put up two runs in the bottom half of the inning, but junior pitcher
Colin McKelligan shut the door in the final inning, securing Union's second victory against a nationally ranked team this season.
Brown led the way during the game, going 2-for-4 with two RBI. Mene, who entered the game as a pitch hitter, went 1-for-1 with an RBI and a run scored. Senior
Pat Wilson was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Sophomore
Jarid Hotaling had a hit and an RBI, while Johnson went 1-for-2 with a RBI and a run scored.
McKelligan earned the win, pitching the last three innings, striking out one. Sophomore
Jeremy LeFebvre got the start, throwing four innings, striking out two.
During game two, RPI led 10-1 after three innings and kept the pace up, scoring nine more runs the rest of the way.
Union got strong offensive efforts from Johnson, Hotaling, Mene and Ranalli. Johnson went 3-for-4 and crossed home plate twice, while Hotaling went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run scored. Mene went 2-for-5 with two runs and Ranialli was 2-for-4.
