Union swimming & diving teams split at Ithaca

ITHACA, N.Y. – On the final meet of the regular season, the Union College men's swimming & diving team defeated Ithaca, 131-110, while the women lost to the Bombers, 158-81, on Saturday at Hill Center Pool.

Alex Boyd, Steve Schapp and Ian Drillinger each earned two wins for the Dutchmen. Erica Fugger picked up two event wins for the Dutchwomen.

Boyd, Brian Scarlett, Kevin Jung and Lucas Tiziani teamed up together to win the 400 yard medley relay in 3:39.11.

Individually, Schapp won the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.68. David Sorensen (2:03.47) and Boyd (2:05.39) finished first and second, respectively, in the 200 yard IM. Tiziani won the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:02.78.

Over on the diving boards, Drillinger won the two contests, scoring 284.55 in the three meter and 258.35 in the one meter.

On the women's side, Fugger won the 100 yard freestyle, turning a time of 55.00, while Maria Prendergast (56.07) finished second.

Fugger and Prendergast teamed up with Priscilla Wright and Diana Fletcher to win the 200 yard freestyle in 1:40.62.

Union will now compete at the UNYSCSA Championships. The women will meet from Feb. 17-20 while the men will compete on Feb. 24-27.
