Sack wins both, Cervini stars at plate in softball wins

ORLANDO, FL --
Senior pitcher Ginni Sack had a complete game three hitter in the opener and won in relief in the second contest as the Union softball team won a pair of games to improve to 4-2. Union defeated Bowdoin, 3-1 and Lawrence, 9-6, and now has a four game winning streak.

Sack allowed one unearned run in the win over Bowdoin. Nina Cervini continued her hot hitting in Florida with three hits and two RBIs. Union scored one in the third and two in the fifth.

The Dutchwomen led 3-0 after two innings but Lawrence took a 4-3 lead in the fourth. Sack came in for relief and later got the win (3-1), as the Dutchwomen tallied three in the fourth and three in the sixth as the "home" team. Cervini had three more hits and three RBIs, Callee Heywood had three hits and Diana Polli and Ashley Kovack each drove in two runs.

Union is idle Wednesday. Due to weather issues, scheduling for many teams have featured changes, and the Dutchwomen will now play Ohio State Newark Thursday at 12 p.m. and Morrisville State at 2 p.m.
