Softball's win streak snapped, split on final day in Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. -
The Union College softball team's six-game win streak was snapped Friday as the Dutchwomen lost 2-1 to Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Later in the day, the Dutchwomen defeated Plymouth State 5-1.

Lauren Hoffman went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI against Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The Dutchwomen scored first in the second inning but Wisconsin-Stevens Point tied the game in the top of the third inning and scored the winning run in the sixth. Ginni Sack suffered the loss and is 4-2 this season.

The Dutchwomen jumped out early against Plymouth State, scoring three runs in the first inning and adding two more in the fifth.

Samantha Chevalier went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Callee Heywood went 3-for-4.

Tiffany Ippoliti struck out four batters and allowed three hits throughout the game to improve her pitching record to 2-1.

The Dutchwomen open their 2010 home schedule on March 31 against Mount Saint Mary's College in a doubleheader. First pitch is at 3 p.m. at Alexander Field.
