SCHENECTADY, NY -- Freshman outfielder Elizabeth Hackert had a two out, two run triple to lift Union College to a 5-4 comeback victory over SUNY Oswego in the second game of a twinbill at Alexander Field Tuesday. Sophomore catcher Nina Cervini led Union's 7-4 victory during game one as she was 3-for-3 at the play with two RBIs and two runs scored. Union finished the day with a 22-8 overall record and the Lakers fell to 3-27.

Union senior pitcher Ginni Sack earned her 11th win in the nightcap with no earned runs and six hits in 5 1/3 innings of relief. She picked up the save in the opener, with 1 2/3 perfect innings of work. Senior pitcher Tiffany Ippoliti earned the victory in the opener, striking out five.

In game one, the Lakers got on the board first with an RBI single in the first inning by freshman leftfielder Marie Steding. The Dutchwomen responded in the bottom of the second when Cervini crossed home on a passed ball. After Oswego regained the lead with a run in the third, the Dutchwomen answered with back-to-back three run innings. A Laker miscue in the fourth, allowed Cervini and junior DH Alexandra King to score and junior shortstop Alicia Jones crossed home an at-bat later.

In the fifth senior third baseman Ashley Kovack registered an RBI double to score sophomore second baseman Callee Heywood and Cervini followed with a single to left to score senior leftfielder Diana Polli and Kovack.

In the second contest, Union trailed 4-3 entering the bottom of the sixth. After two outs on the first two batters, Allie Sirrine singled to center and Sarah Logan pinch ran at first. Alicia Jones walked. Hackert then plated the tying run and eventual winning run with a triple to deep left center, plating both runners, with her second hit of the game.

The Lakers scored three runs in the second, featuring a leadoff homer by Brittany Cerbacio along with an RBI double by Laura Agle and an RBI single by Shannon Baker. Union got one in the fourth on an infield ground out, and got it closer at 4-3 in the fifth on a two run, two out single to center by Diana Polli. Oswego's Marie Seding took the complete game loss, allowing seven hits.

Union closes out the regular season this weekend with Liberty League doubleheaders at RPI Saturday (at 1 p.m.) and Sunday at St. Lawrence (at 1 p.m.). The Dutchwomen are currently 3-1 in the league.
