Dutchwomen split with 10-9 win over Colby in nightcap

-- The Union College softball team bounced back from a 6-3 loss to D'Youville to post a 10-9 win over Colby Tuesday night, and the Dutchwomen stand 1-5.
 
In the opener, freshman pitcher Alyssa Woljeko struck out eight in a compete game but took the loss. The Spartans had nine hits and broke a 2-2 tie with a three run fourth inning. Rachael Cirello had two hits and two RBIs and Chelsea Stoeckl also had two hits with a steal. Lisa Petty stole a base with two hits. Kristen Deschenes got the win.
 
Lauren Hoffman had three hits for the Dutchwomen and also stole a base, while Alicia Jones had an RBI and a single.
 
In the nightcap, Union had a nine run first inning en route to the triumph. Rachel Noall was three for thre with a steal. Colby had five errors and lost despite 16 hits. Amanda Blake got her first career win with the compete game performance.
 
Union plays Chicago Wednesday morning followed by a game against Grinnell in the afternoon.
