WINTER HAVEN, FL- The Union baseball team allowed a season high 19 hits and 14 runs as they fell to Trinity College 14-4 on Friday afternoon at Chain of Lakes Park.
Ryan Carr went six innings for Trinity and gave up five hits, one run, three walks, and six strikeouts. Joe Papa was 3-for-4 with a triple and a homerun.
Trinity had a 7-0 lead in the fifth inning. The Dutchmen finally got on the board in the bottom of the fifth. Gomez's single scored
Dan Wolfe to make it 7-1.
Trinity would score a run in the sixth and seventh innings to go up 9-1. Union would score twice in the bottom of the eighth on balks.
Union did have the bases loaded with no outs in the bottom of the ninth.
John Moore's sacrifice fly would score Gomez. The Dutchmen had a chance to do some more damage but Barretto flied out to right and
Justin Real hit into a fielder's choice which got
Ben Price out on third unassisted.
Union completes the Florida trip with a record of 3-3. They will open at College Park next Saturday when they take on St. Lawrence in the first of a doubleheader starting at 12 pm..
