SCHENECTADY, NY --
The Union softball team dropped a doubleheader to Plattsburgh on Saturday, April 2, at Alexander Field in Schenectady. Plattsburgh held on for a 1-0 win in the first game, then the Cardinals' offense powered them to a 10-4 win in the second game.

Plattsburgh's Dana Mandery scored the only run of the opener in the fifth inning. During the bottom of the seventh, Union managed to load the bases with no outs, but the Cardinal defense recorded back-to-back outs at home plate to keep the Dutchwomen off the board. Ashley Marshall earned the complete-game shutout for Plattsburgh, her fourth of the season. Amanda Blake struck out seven and walked three for Union.

In the second game, the Cardinals scored twice in the second inning to take an early lead, then added three more runs in the fifth to go up 5-0. In the bottom of the fifth, Samantha Chevalier hit her first home run of the season and the second of her career to put Union on the board. The Dutchwomen rallied to within one run, 5-4, with three runs in the sixth inning. Lauren Hoffman had an RBI double and Rachel Noall and Nina Cervini each earned an RBI single during the comeback. However, Plattsburgh brought in five runners in the seventh to seal its second win of the day. Heather Loughran remained unbeaten with her seventh pitching win of the season and Marshall played the last one-and-a-third innings to earn her third save for the Cardinals. Union's Jena Servidone struck out two over the last two-and-two-thirds innings after relieving starter Alyssa Wolejko.

Union will play a doubleheader against Manhattanville College starting at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 3, at Alexander Field.
