»The Last Meeting
On Jan. 20, 2012, Wayne Simpson scored twice and goaltender Troy Grosenick stopped 29 of 30 shots to help No. 12 Union earn a 3-1 win over Yale in front of 3,500 fans at Ingalls Rink.

The Dutchmen took the lead for good late in the first period on Daniel Carr's shorthanded goal at 14:37, which put the Dutchmen up 2-1.

Union took an early 1-0 lead in the first period on Simpson's wide angle goal at 7:03. Nolan Julseth-White helped the Dutchmen gain the zone with a feed to sophomore forward Matt Hatch.

Hatch fed to Simpson, who beat Maricic over the glove to give the Dutchmen the lead. Union killed Yale's first power play opportunity of the game, but the Bulldogs caught Union out of position just as Julseth-White returned to the ice from a tripping penalty.

Yale's Kenny Agostino fired a shot on net from the circle that Grosenick stopped, but Kevin Peel skated in from the point to put the rebound into an open net at 13:49.

Just two seconds after the goal, on the ensuing faceoff, Max Novak was sent to the penalty box for tripping. But seconds into the Yale man advantage, Welsh fed cross-ice to Carr on a 2-on-1, and Carr fired a one-timer past Maricic at 14:37 to give the Dutchmen the lead for good.

The Dutchmen would take a two-goal lead on the power play as senior forward Kelly Zajac fed junior forward Kyle Bodie down low, who fired a shot on net. Maricic made the initial save, but Simpson scored his 12th goal of the year on the rebound at 15:45 to put Union up 3-1.
