SCHENECTADY, NY -- Senior shortstop 
Lauren Hoffman drove in seven runs and junior outfielder 
Erika Hillenbrand hit two homers as the Union College softball team sweps Oswego State, 16-2 (in five innings) and 7-0 Tuesday at Alexander Field.
The Dutchwomen improved to 16-10 while the Lakers fell to 9-16.
Union put up 24 hits on the day while getting complete game victories from pitchers 
Amanda Blake and 
Allyson Staats. Blake allowed one earned run and four hits in five innings in the opener to improve to 4-2, while Staats, a freshman for Union, also won her fourth with a four hit shutout in seven innings in the nightcap.
In the opener, Union exploded for seven runs in the first and added four runs in both the second and third innings for a 15-0 lead after three innings. Hoffman had three hits and three RBIs and 
Lindsay Cohen had five RBIs along with her first homer of the season. 
Aimee Palleschi also had a homer and 
Nina Cervini had three hits and three RBIs in the triumph. Union had 17 hits in the game. Dee Apps hit her first homer of the season for the Lakers.
Game two featured a pitchers' dual for five and a half innings. Oswego starter Ashley Snyder and Union's Staats each allowed just two hits entering the bottom of the fifth. But Hoffman had a sacrifice fly for the first run and Hillenbrand hit a two run homer in the three run fifth. Union added insurance when Hoffman hit a three run shot in the sixth with two outs, and Hillenbrand followed with her second of the day and third of the year for the 7-0 lead. She had two hits and three RBIs and Hoffman had four RBIs while Cohen had two hits. Sammie Schroeter had two of the Lakers' four hits.
The Dutchwomen are right back at Alexander Field Wednesday, as Union hosts SUNY Geneseo at 3 p.m.
