POTSDAM, N.Y. - The Union College volleyball team will begin postseason play on Friday when they travel to Potsdam, N.Y. for the Liberty League Championship Tournament. The Dutchwomen will play their first round match against St. Lawrence at 5 pm.

Clarkson will host Vassar in their first round matchup. The winners of both matches will play for the Liberty League Championship on Saturday Nov. 9 at 4 pm. For coverage of the event be sure to tune into the live stream at americaonesports.com and follow the action via twitter @UnionAthletics.

» Union Travels to Clarkson for Liberty League Tournament
The team travels to Clarkson as the second seed in the Liberty League Championship Tournament. The Dutchwomen compiled a 21-10 record during the 2013 season. They finished an impressive 9-3 against conference foes and went a perfect 9-0 at home. Union will take on St. Lawrence who finished the season with a 21-11 record and 8-4 record against league opponents.
» Diggin' Defense
Senior defensive specialist Marissa Vollmer led the Dutchwomen and the Liberty League in digs for the third straight season. Vollmer racked up 589 digs on the season, averaging 5.31 digs per set. Her defense was a large reason why the team as a whole led the Liberty League in digs (18.27 per set).
The team also held opponents to a .126 hitting percentage on the season, which ranked second among Liberty League teams.
» Block Party
The Dutchwomen played close to the net all season on their way to leading the Liberty League in blocks. Union totaled 60 solo blocks and 274 assisted blocks. They averaged 1.7 blocks per set.
6'2" sophomore middle hitter Lauren Woods was a large part of the Dutchwomen's success at the net. Woods averaged .94 blocks per set to lead the Liberty League. Woods totaled 35 solo blocks (1st overall) and 71 assisted blocks (1st overall) for total block of 106. The second highest total among LL members was 78 and an average of .75 per set.
» Dishing Dimes
Freshman setter Amanda Price dished out assists all season. She finished the regular season by dishing out 703 assists, averaging 6.06 per set. She was fourth among Liberty League players in assists and led all freshman setters on the year. Senior Mackenzie Westfall also set up a large number of attacks as she averaged 3.6 assists per set on the year.
In total the Dutchwomen averaged 10.21 assists per set, good enough for third among Liberty League members.
» Killin' It
Sophomore Rachel Wyman led the Dutchwomen in kills for the second straight season. She racked up 331 kills on the season for an average of 2.93 per set.
The Dutchwomen averaged 11.03 kills per set, good enough for third best in the Liberty League.
» Racking Up the Honors
The Dutchwomen racked up a performer of the week, two rookies of the week, and two honor roll mentions from the Liberty League during the season.
Marissa Vollmer was named the LL Performer of the Week on October 21 after averaging 5.75 digs in four wins over Liberty League matches during the week of Oct. 14. Vollmer also earned Honor Roll honors on September 16 when she averaged 4.7 digs per set in wins over Hartwick, Cortland and regionally-ranked Nazareth during the week of September 8.
Freshmen Ally VanDoren and Amanda Price were named LL Rookies of the Week on September 16 and October 28 respectively. VanDoren was honored after averaging 2.5 kills and 3.7 digs per set in wins over Hartwick, Cortland and regionally-ranked Nazareth during the week of September 8. Price earned the honors after averaging 5.82 assists in three matches against Liberty League opponents during the week of October 21.
