ITHACA, NY - Despite a 4-1 setback at Colgate last night, No. 20/RV Union (15-11-5, 8-7-4 ECAC Hockey) heads into Cornell (10-13-3, 6-10-3 ECAC Hockey) in fourth place in ECAC Hockey and position to clinch a first round bye in the ECAC Hockey Tournament with three games remaining in the regular season. The Dutchmen have lost three straight road games in league play, and will look to snap that streak tonight at Lynah Rink. After a seven game losing streak, Cornell is unbeaten in its last three games (2-0-1), including a 4-1 win over Rensselaer last night. In that contest, Greg Miller scored twice, including a shorthanded goal, Joel Lowry and John Esposito each had goals, and Andy Iles made 29 saves to lead the Big Red to the win. Union is looking for its first win over Cornell since the 2010-11 season, a 4-0 win on Feb. 11, 2011 at Messa Rink.

Last night, sophomore defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere scored a power play goal in the first pe- riod, Union fell, 4-1, to Colgate in front of 1,903 fans at Starr Rink. Colgate's Kurtis Bartliff scored on the Raiders' first shot of the night, Spiro Goulakos and Taylor Spink scored power play goals
in the second and third period, and Robbie Bourdon added an empty net goal for Colgate, which snapped a six game winless streak. Colgate's Eric Mihalik made 35 stops in net for the Raiders, who were outshot 36-32 for the night by the Dutchmen. The Raiders finished the night 2-for-5 on the man advantage, while the Dutchmen went 1-for-4 on the power play.

Union, which is 6-8-3 in road contests this season, is 2-6-1 in games where the opposition has scored first on the road. In each of the past three road games (0-3-0), Union has allowed the home team to score first.

Senior forward Kyle Bodie is in the midst of a career season for the Dutchmen. He is second on Union in scoring with 29 points (seven goals, 22 assists) in 31 games, adding an assist last night against Colgate. Bodie entered the week tied for 20th in the nation at 0.70 assists per game and needs just two points to break his single-season career high, which he set last season with 30 (six goals, 24 assists).

Junior forward Daniel Carr (51) and senior forward Wayne Simpson (53) recently joined the Union College 50-Goal Club, a mark reached by just five players in the Division I era at Union. Both are chasing Mario Valery-Trabucco's '10 career record of 59 goals scored.

Junior forward Daniel Carr (51 goals, 46 assists), who had a goal in the third period of Union's 4-2 win over No. 10 Yale last Friday night, is just three points away from becoming the 10th Union player in the DI era to reach 100 career points.

The two teams first met on Feb. 12, 1928 and Cornell skated away with a 7-4 victory, propelling them to a 6-0-1 record against Union in the first seven meetings. Synopsis: While Cornell returned a loaded squad in 2012-13 with eight of its top nine scorers back from a season ago, and a Ken Dryden Award candidate in net in Andy Iles, it has been a disappointing season thus far for the Big Red. Cornell had lost 10 of its last 11 games before earning three points last week- end with a win at Dartmouth (4-2) and a 2-2 tie at Harvard on Saturday night.
Cornell suffered a big loss when sophomore forward Cole Bardreau was lost for the season after sustaining a neck fracture against RPI on Jan. 19. Cornell is 47th in the nation in scoring at 2.28 goals/game. Defensively, Cornell is al- lowing 2.72 goals allowed/game (30th NCAA). Cornell's power play is ranked 44th in the na- tion at 14.3%, while its penalty kill is No. 54 in the country at 77.9%.
