SCHENECTADY, N.Y.— Union College track and field and cross country runners
Noemie Bechu and
Jesse Coull were both named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District ™ First Team for District 3, as announced Thursday afternoon.
As First-team Academic All-District™ honorees, Bechu and Coull advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
Bechu owns a 3.89 cumulative grade point average in Psychology. She is a team captain as a junior. This season, she set a New York State Collegiate Track Conference record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.55 which is the sixth-fastest time in Division III this season. She is holds seven school records in both indoor and outdoor track. She has seven top-three finishes and 12. top-10 finishes. She is currently ranked ninth in the country in the 400-meter dash.
Coull is a Mechanical Engineering with a 3.78 cumulative grade point average. He is a team captain. He holds three school records, in the indoor 5000, the outdoor 5000 and the distance medley relay). He has five top-10 finishes this season, including at second-place finish in the 10,000m race at the Liberty League Championships
Bechu heads to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Waverly, Iowa where she will compete in the 400-meter dash preliminaries on May 27 at 5 p.m.
