WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Union College men's indoor track & field team had its final tuneup before the upcoming conference championships at the non-scoring West Point Tune-Up, held on Saturday afternoon at Gillis Fieldhouse.
Despite not bringing the full team to Army, the competitors still combined for five season-best results on the day.
Junior
Michael Fitzmaurice had a season-best in the 800 meters to lead three Union runners, coming eight-hundredths of a second short of AARTFC qualifying with a second-place time of 1:57.88. Classmate
Will Bonnette also finished in the top-10, taking sixth in 2:01.18.
Junior
Kye Norcross and sophomore
Alan Mackic both set new season-bests in the 60-meter dash, with Norcross placing 21st in 7.48 seconds and Mackic crossing the line in a career-best 7.89 seconds.

Tommy Lapham ran the mile in a career-best 4:48.31 to place 13th overall, while first-year
Will Barry took fifth in the 3,000 meters after finishing in a season-best 9:38.66.
In the field events, seniors
Mason Lang and
Tony Cocchiaro participated in the invite portion of the shot put, placing eighth (12.64 meters) and ninth (11.83 meters), respectively. Mackic also earned a ninth-place finish in the long jump, leaping 5.49 meters.
Union will return to the track on Friday for day one of the Liberty League Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Rochester Institute of Technology.
