The first period ended tied 2-2 and after Penn State took a 3-2 lead in the opening two minutes of the second period, Spencer Foo scored his second of the game to tie things back up at 3-3. Unfortunately, Penn State would go on to score seven-unanswered goals to secure a spot in the regional final against eventual national champion Denver.

vs Boston University
The Dutchmen are 1-1-1 against the Terriers all-time, as the two sides have only met three times previously, most recently in January of 2017 which resulted in a 5-4 overtime win by Boston University.

Brett Supinski and Sebastian Vidmar both lead the Dutchmen with one goal and two assists each in their careers against Boston University. In last season's 5-4 loss to BU, Vidmar, Supinski and Luc Brown each recorded a two-point night with one goal and one assist each.

None of Union's three goaltenders have played against Boston University.

The Dutchmen's lone win against BU came in the series' second meeting on Oct. 10, 2015 at Messa Rink. Ryan Scarfo scored the opening goal of the contest, as Union went on to win 5-3 in front of a sold-out crowd.

The first meeting took place in Boston on Jan. 3, 2015 and ended in a 3-3 tie.

Scouting Boston University

BU's top returning forwards include Patrick Harper, Bobo Carpenter and Jordan Greenway. The Terriers also return Hockey East All-Rookie goaltender Jake Oettinger.

Boston University adds 10 new players in nine true freshman and one graduate transfer from RPI, Drew Melanson. BU's freshman class includes five 2017 NHL Draft picks.
