SCHENECTADY, NY -- For the first time since 2015, the Union College softball team has clinched a berth into the four-team Liberty League postseason championships.
Tournament action will begin on Thursday, May 3 as Union, RPI, Ithaca and Rochester compete head-to-head, in a double elimination tournament, to vye for the conference title.
The Dutchwomen enter the tournament as the No. 4 seeded team. RPI, Ithaca and Rochester all settle in as the one through three ranks, respectively. Finishing No. 1 in the conference, RPI will play host to the tournament and hold all games at
Doris Robison Field.
Crosstown rivals, RPI and Union will kick off the tournament on Thursday with a 2 p.m. first pitch. The Dutchwomen have taken on the Engineers twice earlier this season, first with a 9-0 loss followed by a 6-5 walk-off win. The Bombers and Yellow Jackets will follow suit with game two at 4:30 p.m.
If Union wins game one, the team will take on the winner of Ithaca-Rochester at 10 a.m. Friday morning. The complete tournament schedule is as follows:
