Career Firsts
Eight of the 10 first-year skaters have recorded their first collegiate points, with six of them doing so in the first weekend of competition. Gabriel Seger and Dylan Anhorn are tied for team lead in freshman scoring, with five points apiece, as both have two goals and three assists.

vs Brown
Union and Brown have historically tended to play in evenly-matched contests, and the recent series between the two teams supports that trend; the Dutchmen are 4-4-2 against the Bears in the last 10 meetings. All-time Union trails Brown 20-25-13 and is 10-13-5 in games played at Messa Rink. Last season, Union went 0-2-1 against Brown, losing 3-2 at home, tying 3-3 in Providence and losing 6-3 in the 2019 Three Rivers Classic championship game in Pittsburgh.

Scouting the Bears
Brown is 3-7-0 on the season and sits in sixth place in ECAC Hockey with a record of 3-5-0. The Bears are coming off a pair of non-conference losses last weekend to Bentley and Providence. Their three wins this season have come against St. Lawrence (Nov. 23), Colgate (Nov. 9) and Yale (Nov. 2).

Sophomore forward Justin Jallen leads the Bears in scoring with seven goals and one assist. Two defensemen, Zach Giuttari and Tony Stillwell, are tied for second on the team in scoring with six points apiece. Senior goaltender (and brother to Dutchmen goaltender Garrett Nieto) Gavin Nieto returns in net for the Bears. He holds a 2-5-0 record this season with a .913 save percentage and a 2.74 goals against average.

vs Yale
Union holds an all-time record of 27-27-6 against the Bulldogs. Last season the two teams went 1-1-1 in three meetings, with both teams winning their respective home games. The lone tie came in the opening game of the 2018 Friendship Four Tournament in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Despite the two teams winning at home last year, the Dutchmen trail in games played at Messa Rink, 12-16-4, while leading in games at Ingalls Rink, 14-11-3. Most recently, Union is 5-4-1 against Yale through the past 10 meetings.

Scouting the Bulldogs
Yale enters the weekend with a 2-7-0 record and tied with Union in the ECAC Hockey standings with a conference record of 2-6-0. The Bulldogs most recently played at Boston College on Nov. 26, losing to the Eagles 6-2. Their two wins have come against St. Lawrence (Nov. 22) and Brown (Nov. 1).

Two Bulldogs are tied for the team lead in scoring with six points each, junior forward Tyler Welsh has three goals and three assists, while senior defenseman Bill Sweezy has six assists. Boston Bruins draft pick Curtis Hall enters the weekend leading the Bulldogs in goals with five. In net, senior Corbin Kaczperski holds a 1-5-0 record with a .847 save percentage and a 4.22 goals-against average.

Doing it the Hard Way
Freshman forward Christian Sanda was one of five players to score a shorthanded goal during the opening weekend of play, Oct. 5-6. His shorthanded goal came during the second period at Army West Point on Oct. 6.
