Final Leaderboard
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Union College women's golf team tuned up for the postseason with a two-day score of 694 to place 10th overall at the very competitive Vassar College Invitational, held on Saturday and Sunday at Casperkill Golf Course.
Union followed up yesterday's round of 346 with a score of 348 on Sunday, resulting in the second-lowest two-day total in program history. The Dutchwomen finished 18 shots back of SUNY Cortland in ninth place and well ahead of Manhattanville College (756) in 11th place. Williams College took top honors with a two-day score of 609, six shots clear of New York University.
Junior
Molly Wiener was the team's top finisher on the weekend, following yesterday's 83 with an 82 on Sunday to tie for 29th place overall. For the second straight day, Wiener closed with a very strong back nine, carding five pars and a birdie to come in with a 38 and improve her position on the leaderboard.
Freshmen
Kiara Beckham and
Ashley Harding followed in 38th and 40th position, respectively. Beckham carded an 89 on Sunday to finish with a two-day score of 173, while Harding registered a 90 on day two to finish at 175.
Sophomore
Juls Sweet followed with an 87 on Sunday to finish the weekend in 50th place with a two-day score of 183, while classmate
Lisa Spagnuolo added a 90 to post a two-day score of 184 to finish in 52nd place.
After taking next weekend off, the Dutchwomen will return to the course on May 3-4, when Union hosts the Liberty League Championships at Mohawk Golf Club in Schenectady.
