TROY, N.Y. – A school-record 93 Union College student-athletes were recognized for their academic prowess by earning spots on the Liberty League Fall All-Academic Teams, the conference announced on Thursday afternoon.
The Liberty League's fall championship sports include men's and women's cross country, field hockey, football, men's and women's soccer, and women's volleyball. To be recognized as a member of the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30, mirroring the criteria for CoSIDA Academic All-America awards.
More than 56 percent (53 of 93) of Union's honorees are repeat selections to the All-Academic Team, while nearly 25 percent (23 of 93) were selected for the usual maximum third straight season and one - football senior
Stephen Crevani - was honored for the fourth time after all athletes received an extra year of eligibility due to COVID-19. The football team led all fall sports with 27 selections, followed by the women's soccer team with 18 selections. For the first time ever, all seven Union fall sports had at least five players represented.
