Jessie Rooney earns Liberty League Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon. Rooney posted a 2-0 record, including a save in three games this past week.
Rooney (4-1) earned her third and four wins of the season this past week against Buffalo State and Luther, while also securing a save against Washington and Jefferson. In that span Rooney struck out 11 batters and posted a 1.26 earned run average all while throwing two complete games.
She earned her first collegiate save in the teams 8-1 win over Washington and Jefferson. Rooney entered the game with a 2-1 lead and runners at the corners with one out. She got out of the jam with a strikeout and forcing the batter to pop out. Rooney finished the game by striking out five of the eight batters she faced.
In the game against Luther, Rooney threw a complete game two hitter, fanning three batters and allowing one run, in the 6-1 win. Opponents batting against Rooney this season are .150.
The Dutchwomen (7-1) look to extend their six-game winning streak when they hit the road and travel to SUNY Cobleskill for a double header on Tuesday, April 5. These games are scheduled for 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. in Cobleskill, N.Y.
