Men's Hockey Announces 2022-23 Schedule

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Head coach Josh Hauge released the 2022-23 schedule for the Union College men's ice hockey team Tuesday morning.

"We are looking forward to the 22-23 season," said Hauge. "Our schedule has some great teams visiting Messa Rink and has us visiting some challenging venues. It's an exciting time to look to the future and the expectations for next season."

The schedule includes 34 contests against seven non-conference opponents and the other 11 members of ECAC Hockey. The Dutchmen will play eight non-league games to start the season.

Union opens the season at home with a non-conference tilt against Rochester Institute of Technology on Saturday, October 1 as part of Union's Homecoming Weekend festivities, before heading to Army West Point for a Sunday showdown.

"We are excited to open our season during Homecoming Weekend and look forward to welcoming our alumni back to campus," added Hauge.

Union will head to Storrs, Conn. for a two-game series with Connecticut, who fell in overtime to Massachusetts in the Hockey East Championship. The Dutchmen host Atlantic Hockey foe Bentley in a rare Thursday night matchup before traveling to Rochester for part two with the Tigers.

The Dutchmen travel to Amherst, Mass. to face the 2021 national champion, Massachusetts. The Minutemen captured the Hockey East Championship last season before falling to Minnesota in overtime in the NCAA Worcester Regional.

After a break for final exams in mid-November, Union will host a perennial NCAA tournament team, Northeastern, for a solo game on Saturday, Dec. 3. The Dutchmen will close out the 2022 calendar year at home with a two-game series against the University of New Hampshire Wildcats on December 30-31.

The final non-conference tilt of the season will be the annual Mayor's Cup game against Rensselaer at MVP Arena on Saturday, Jan. 18. The Dutchmen blanked the Engineers 2-0 this past season to return the Mayor's Cup to Schenectady.

Union opens ECAC Hockey play with a home-and-home series with Rensselaer on Oct. 28-29, kicking off six straight conference games. The Dutchmen return to the North Country to face Clarkson and St. Lawrence on Nov. 4-5 before closing out the fall term with a home series versus Dartmouth and Harvard. The team travels to Princeton and Quinnipiac on Dec. 9-10 for the final road trip of the 2022 calendar year.

The back half of the schedule features more games at home with eight home league contests and only six on the road, as well as the neutral site Mayor's Cup game. Union opens winter term with Cornell and Colgate at home on Jan. 6-7 before traveling to Brown and Yale Jan. 13-14. Union closes out January with a home weekend with St. Lawrence and Clarkson on Jan. 20-21 and the Mayor's Cup in Albany on Jan. 28.

Union will play eight straight league games after the Mayor's Cup, starting with a trip to Colgate and Cornell on Feb. 3-4. The team will host Yale and Brown on Feb. 10-11, followed by the final regular season road trip of the season, when Union takes on Harvard and Dartmouth on Feb. 17-18.

The Dutchmen conclude their regular season schedule against Quinnipiac and Princeton on Feb. 24-25.
