ITHACA, N.Y. – A strong day in the pool for the Union College women's swimming & diving team was highlighted by several career-best times and season-best times on highlight day two of the 12
th annual Ithaca College Bomber Invite on Saturday at the Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium.
Union's 200-yard freestyle team of sophomore
Sasha Malik, junior
Kristina Valenti, sophomore
Alison Silver, and first-year
Chloe Matthews raced to an eighth-place finish to open the morning session with a time of 1:43.87.
Malik turned in a 10
th place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a season-best time of 1:00.51 during the evening session.
Valenti raced to a new season-best time of 1:09.61 in the 100-yard breaststroke to claim 15th place. Junior
Molly Miller also set a new season-best time of 1:11.38 in the event to finish in 22
nd.
Junior
Ally Gowern took 16th in the 400 IM with a time of 4:55.88 and added a 19th place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a season-best time of 2:24.46.
First-year
Grace Furtado also added a season-best time of 2:25.02 in the 200-yard butterfly to finish in 21st.
Matthews picked up a point in the 100-yard butterfly with a season-best time of 1:02.84 to place 24
th.
The 400-yard medley relay team of Malik, Miller, Matthews, and first-year
Jessica Konsky finished in seventh with a time of 4:12.04.
The Garnet Chargers closed out the second day with the 800-yard freestyle relay. Union finished in 10
th place with a time of 8:28.72. Union's team was comprised of Konsky, first-year
Amelia Dino, Furtado and junior
Meghan Seidberg.
Union closes out day three of the Bomber Invite tomorrow. The first event is scheduled for 9:00am at the Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium.
