White's Career-Best Round Paces Union on Day One at SLU

CANTON, N.Y. – Sophomore Shea White carded a career-low round of 81 to lead the Union College women's golf team on day one of the St. Lawrence Invitational, held on Saturday at the Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course.

As a team, Union finished the day at 386 to sit in fifth place out of six teams. Ithaca College holds the day one lead after a round of 316, 22 strokes ahead of second-place SUNY Cortland.

White had an excellent day on the course for Union, surpassing her previous career best by five strokes with a nine-over round of 81 that placed her fifth out of 37 golfers at the midway point of the weekend. She sits five strokes back of Ithaca's Rheanna DeCrow, who shot a 76 to lead all players.

Junior Liz Bentsianov carded a round of 83 on Saturday to enter day two in a tie for seventh place at 11-over-par.

Junior Katerina Dimacopoulos and sophomore Delaney Fox rounded out the Union quartet with rounds of 102 and 120, respectively.

The Garnet Chargers will return to the course tomorrow morning for day two of the St. Lawrence Invitational beginning at 9 a.m.
