NEW YORK MILLS, N.Y. – The Union College women's golf team picked up a 3-2 match play victory over William Smith College on Saturday at Twin Ponds Golf Club.
 
The two teams split the four contested matches, but Union earned the default win in the fifth match over the shorthanded Herons.
 
Junior Liz Bentsianov and sophomore Shea White earned wins for the Garnet Chargers on the day. In the first match, Bentsianov cruised past Caroline Gannon, 6 and 5. White followed up with a 5 and 4 win over Justine Burness that clinched the team victory for Union.
 
Union will return to the course on October 7 with a dual match against SUNY Cortland at Teugega C.C. in Rome.
