ITHACA, N.Y. – The Union College men's swimming and diving team closed out the first half of the 2024-25 schedule with day three of the 13
th Annual Bombers Invitational on Sunday afternoon at Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium. The Garnet Chargers finished the three-day meet with 466 points for eighth place.
First-year
Nick Megas continued his strong weekend with another top-10 finish in the 100 free. Megas takes over ninth place in Union's top-10 list with a time of 46.53.
Both 200 medley teams put in strong performances to open up the finals session. The medley B quartet of junior
Drew Hill, sophomore
Brayden Green, senior
Walter Kraus, and junior
Josh Hiller finished in 11
th with a time of 1:41.39. The medley B team of first-years Megas, Grim Crosby,
Finn Weafer, and
Rob Shontz placed 13
th with a time of 1:44.83.
Hill won the C final of the 100 freestyle with a time of 47.42.
Senior
Tony Piacentini qualified for the B final in the 500 free and finished in 4:58.50. Shontz finished third in the C final with a time of 5:13.08.
Kraus won the C final of the 100 butterfly with a time of 54.72. First-year
Myles Gronbach also raced in the C final and finished in 1:06.29.
Green competed in the 200 breaststroke B final and finished in 2:17.21 while Hiller raced in the C final with a time of 2:25.47. Green went on to finish second in the C final of the 200 IM with a time of 2:07.54.
The Union 400 free relay A team of Megas, Shontz, Kraus, and Piacentini finished in 11
th with a time of 3:20.94. The 400 free relay B team of Weafer, Gronbach, Hill, and Grim finished in 14
th with a time of 3:35.67.
Union returns to action on Saturday, January 4 when the Garnet Chargers host Amherst College. The first event begins at 1pm at Alumni Gym Pool.
