ST. PAUL, Minn. - Sophomore
John Prokop of the Union College men's hockey team was named a CCM/AHCA Hockey All-American the American Hockey Coaches Association announced on Friday night at the Frozen Four.
Prokop was named to the AHCA All-America East Second Team. The sophomore is the first Union skater to earn All-America honors since Spencer Foo and Mike Vecchione were both honored with spots on the first team in the 2016-17 season. Prokop is the first Union blueliner to be honored since Mat Bodie and Shayne Gostisbehere earned All-America first team accolades in the 2013-14 season.

Josh Hauge. "He has come in and worked hard to develop into one of the premier defensemen in college hockey."
The Wausau, Wis. Native skated in 36 of 37 games for Union this season and recorded a team-high 35 points with eight goals and 27 assists. In his career, he has 58 points (12-46-58) in 71 games.
Prokop was a unanimous All-ECAC Hockey First Team honoree this year. Prokop was named the ECAC Hockey Defender of the Week twice this season and also earned Defender of the Month honors for November. The blueliner was also nominated for the prestigious Hobey Baker Award this year.
Among all Union defensemen, Prokop sits in second in single-season points, four back from Mat Bodie '14 from the 2013-14 season. Prokop is tied for second in single-season goals with eight and tied for second in single-season assists with 27.
