Day One Leaderboard
GUILDERLAND, N.Y. – The Union College women's golf team carded a team round of 373 to sit in fifth place after day one of the Liberty League Championships, held on Saturday at Pinehaven Country Club.
Union's score is 27 strokes back of Vassar College for fourth place at the midway point of the weekend. Defending champion New York University shot a 308 to hold a six-stroke lead over #8 Wellesley College and a 10-shot edge on Ithaca College after day one.
Junior
Liz Bentsianov carded an eight-over round of 80 to sit in a tie for 12th place after Saturday's round. The junior tied for the third-best score on par-fours, combining to shoot three-over on the 10 par-fours. Her lone birdie of the day came on the par-four 10th hole, one of three birdies on the hole on Saturday.
Sophomore
Shea White sits inside the top-20 after day one as well following a round of 90. She carded nothing higher than a bogey over the final 10 holes and tied with Bentsianov for the team's best showing on the par-threes, shooting two-over par on the course's four shortest holes.
Junior
Katerina Dimacopoulos finished the day in a tie for 24th place after a round of 98, and sophomore
Emily Evans rounded out the Union quartet with a season-low round of 105.
The Garnet Chargers will be back on the course for the second and final day of the Liberty League Championships tomorrow beginning at noon.
