GUILDERLAND, N.Y. – The Union College women's golf team finished off the 2023-24 season with a fifth-place finish at the 2024 Liberty League Championships, held on Saturday and Sunday at Pinehaven Country Club.
 
Union carded a team round of 396 on Sunday to remain in fifth place with a two-day total of 769, 13 strokes clear of St. Lawrence University in sixth place. New York University defended its conference title with a Sunday 297 to finish the weekend at 605, 17 strokes ahead of co-runners-up Ithaca College and Wellesley College at 623.
 
Junior Liz Bentsianov posted a round of 81 on Sunday to finish the weekend at 161, coming just two strokes short of All-Liberty League honors in 16th place. On day two, the junior recorded 10 pars and one birdie on the par-four 12th hole in a steady round, coming in with a 38 after going out in 43. Bentsianov tied for second in the field in par-three scoring on the weekend, recording five pars and three bogies on the four shortest holes on the course.
 
The junior finished the season averaging 81.89 strokes per round, the second-lowest single-season scoring average in program history. Bentsianov's first three years at Union have resulted in the three lowest scoring averages ever at the school.
 
Sophomore Shea White improved her score by two strokes on Sunday, carding an 88 to finish the weekend in 20th place at 178. White also performed well on the par-threes this weekend, finishing the four holes at five-over-par to tie for ninth-best in the field.
 
Junior Katerina Dimacopoulos shaved one stroke off her score on the second day of the weekend, carding a 97 to finish the event in 27th place at 195. Sophomore Emily Evans finished the weekend at 235 for Union as well.
