CANTON, N.Y. – The Union College men's cross country team finished the 2025 season with a 12th-place finish at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championships, held on Saturday at St. Lawrence University's Ronald C. Hoffmann Cross Country Course.
The Garnet Chargers finished the race with 385 points, 49 points shy of Trinity (Conn.) College in 11th place and 18 points ahead of SUNY New Paltz in 13th position. In a race that featured five of the top 24 teams in the USTFCCCA national rankings, #8 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (44 points) bested #7 Williams College (95 points) to earn the regional title.
Junior
Bretton Garrick was the first Garnet Charger to cross the finish line in the 8K race, taking 55th place with a time of 26:45.4. He was followed 25 seconds later by sophomore
Liam Fitzgibbon, who finished the course in 27:10.0 to place 64th overall.
Union had three runners finish right around the middle of the 179-runner field to finish out the scoring. Senior
Will Plante finished in 27:35.1 to place 87th in his final collegiate race, and he was followed closely by first-years
Alex Colangelo in 89th place and
Greg Keane in 90th.
The Garnet Chargers will take the rest of the month off for finals and Thanksgiving Break before the indoor track & field season begins in early December.
