Women's Swimming & Diving Continues Action at Bomber Invite

ITHACA, N.Y. – Thirteen members of the Union College women's swimming & diving team earned spots in finals events at the Bomber Invitational Friday night, hosted by Ithaca College at the Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium.

The Garnet Chargers competed in 15 swimming events overall, led by first-year Julia Garber and junior Jess Konsky, who earned a pair of B-finals appearances each. 

Garber placed 12th in the 100 butterfly (1:00.60) and 13th in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.94). Konsky earned a pair of 14th-place finishes in the 200 freestyle (2:02.11) and 100 backstroke (1:02.84). 

First-year Cate Kavanaugh posted a lifetime best in the 400 individual medley when she finished with a time of 5:06.59 and in 15th. Junior Samantha Picciotti, first-year Maggie Reale, and junior Sarah Ramirez also secured lifetime-best swims when they finished 17th in the 100 fly (1:01.60), 21st in the 200 free (2:04.76), and 22nd in the 100 back (1:06.46), respectively. 

In Union's other B-finals, junior Chloe Matthews touched the wall in 1:00.51 and 11th place of the 100 fly, first-year Ali Sweeney posted a 14th-place finish in the 100 breast (1:13.31), sophomore Maddie Stanley placed 14th in the 400 IM (5:06.56), and sophomore Kathlyn Pomeroy placed 15th in the 100 breast (1:13.75). 

Rounding out Union's C-finalists, Ella Bouvier competed in the 400 IM, junior Amelia Dino swam in the 100 back, and first-year Lucia Lazarus earned a spot in the 100 fly. 

Konsky led off the Garnet Charger 200 medley relay that finished eighth (1:56.14) along with Sweeney, Matthews, and Reale. To cap off the evening in the 800 freestyle relay, Matthews, first-year Mya Schattin, first-year Charlotte Auth, and Lazarus placed sixth with a time of 8:30.11

The Garnet Chargers moved up one spot of the team standings into fifth with 517.50 points. First-place Ithaca paces the seven-team meet with 1,436 points.
 

Union wraps up the Bomber Invitational and its 2025 schedule on Saturday, Dec. 6 with prelims beginning at 9 a.m.
