ITHACA, N.Y. – The Union College women's swimming and diving moved into eighth place on day two of the 2025 Liberty League Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday at the Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium.
The Garnet Chargers had a strong day in the pool to move into eighth place with 185 points, 15.5 points behind seventh-place St. Lawrence University.
The 200 free relay claimed seventh and a spot on the podium with a time of 1:41.86. Union's team was made up of senior
Kristina Valenti, junior
Alison Silver, sophomore
Grace Furtado, and sophomore
Chloe Matthews.
The 400 IM saw five Union swimmers qualify for a final. Senior
Ally Gowern, Furtado, and first-year
Maddie Stanley all earned a spot in the B final while first-year
Kathlyn Pomeroy and senior
Meghan Seidberg earned spots in the C final. Gowern dropped over a second from her time in the preliminary session to finish in 4:54.24 with Furtado (4:58.02) and Stanley (5:00.73) setting new career best times. Pomeroy claimed the top spot in the C final with a time of 4:57.00, just over five seconds faster from her morning swim and Seidberg dropped almost nine seconds from the morning to finish second in the C final with a career best time of 4:58.88.
Three Union swimmers earned spots in the 100 fly C final with Matthews, sophomore
Samantha Picciotti and senior
Maya Gerber qualifying. Matthews placed second in the C final with a time of 1:01.58 with Picciotti (1:01.82) and Gerber (1:02.93) finishing in third and fourth, respectively.
Sophomore
Jess Konsky competed in the C final of the 200 free and finished in 2:00.20.
Senior
Aurelie Truquet had a career day in the one-meter diving with a score of 384.30 which earns her fifth place on Union's top-10 list.
Union is set for day three of the Liberty League Championship tomorrow beginning at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow.
