ITHACA, N.Y. – The Union College women's swimming and diving team moved up to sixth place with another strong day in the pool at the Liberty League Swimming & Diving Championships held at the Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium.
Union moved up two spots from yesterday to take sixth with 394 points.
The 200 yard medley relay was narrowly edged out at the wall by .07 seconds and finished eighth with a time of 1:53.09 to earn a spot on the podium. Union's team was made up of sophomore
Jess Konsky, senior
Molly Miller, sophomore
Chloe Matthews, and senior
Kristina Valenti.
Three swimmers qualified for the B final in the 200 butterfly and a trio also earned spots in the C final. Sophomore
Samantha Picciotti finished fifth in the B final with a time of 2:16.98. Sophomores
Grace Furtado and
Chloe Matthews also raced in the B final and finished in 2:23.79 and 2:24.73, respectively. Senior
Maya Gerber earned the top spot in the C final with a time of 2:19.53, almost eight seconds faster than preliminary time. Senior Allison Gowern finished with a time of 2:27.05 and junior
Alison Silver dropped almost two seconds to finish in 2:29.73.
Sophomore
Amelia Dino claimed the top spot in the 100 back C final with a time of 1:02.92. Konsky finished third in the C final with a time of 1:03.59.
Five Union swimmers earned a place in either the B or C final of the 100 yard breaststroke. Valenti dropped over a second in the B final to finish in 1:09.30. Miller (1:09.70) and senior
Meghan Seidberg (1:11.16) also raced in the B final. Senior
Gabi Acosta claimed third in the C final with a time of 1:12.64 while first-year
Maddie Stanley finished with a time of 1:17.84.
The 800 free relay team of Silver, Furtado, Dino, and Konsky placed ninth with a time of 8:23.03.
Union closes out the 2025 Liberty League Championships tomorrow beginning at 10:00 a.m.
