SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College women's indoor track & field team ended the season on a high note, picking up another school record and finishing in the top 20 after the second and final day of the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Championships, held at Ithaca College's Glazer Arena on Friday afternoon.
The Garnet Chargers picked up 10 points on day two to finish the weekend with 14 points, tying for 18th place out of 45 scoring teams and 55 total schools.
Senior
Cat Dacey had another record-setting run in the mile, finishing in 5:04.99 to surpass her own program standard by over half a second. The senior was sitting seventh at the half-mile mark, but moved up one spot over each of the next two laps and then closed with a 37.26-second final lap to clinch fifth place and four points for the Garnet Chargers.
The team's highest finish of the day came from first-year
Kyleigh Record, who placed third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:18.18 to earn Union six points. She was joined in the event by classmate
Bethel Flanagan, who posted the best time of her rookie season with a 2:22.27 finish to place 19th.
Senior
Gabby Baker finished off her indoor career with a career-best time in the 400-meter dash, breaking one minute for the first time with a finish of 59.92 seconds to place 19th overall, far exceeding her seed of 27th.
Sophomore
Annabel Dobash earned a top-20 finish of her own in the 3000 meters, placing 17th overall by finishing in 10:35.13, while classmate
Ashley Sheldon tied for 11th place in the high jump, clearing 1.52 meters on her first try but hitting the bar on all three attempts at 1.57 meters.
The Garnet Chargers will take a few weeks off from competition before beginning the outdoor season on March 28-29 at the William & Mary Invitational.
