Baseball Trio Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Senior Sam Strazza, junior Caleb Miller and sophomore Noah DiCaprio of the Union College baseball team were recognized for their performance on the diamond and in the classroom with spots on 2025 Academic All-District Baseball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators and announced on Tuesday.
 
To be nominated for College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must participate in at least 90 percent or start at least 66 percent of their team's games, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and reach sophomore athletic and academic standing at the school. All Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.
 
Miller earned a second straight All-Liberty League first-team honor after hitting .289 with a team-leading seven homers, three triples, 27 runs batted in and 38 runs scored on the season, while adding 20 walks for a .407 on-base percentage and 23 stolen bases. The economics major finished the season fourth in the Liberty League in both homers and triples, and reached base in 34-of-39 games, including a team-best 11-game hitting streak to start the year and a string of 14 straight games reaching base to end the season.

Strazza started 34 of his 37 appearances on the diamond as a senior, hitting .239 with two homers, 23 runs batted in and 27 runs scored. He finished second on the team in walks (21), third in runs and doubles (7), and fifth in OPS (.757). The managerial economics major finished his career fifth all-time in walks (56) and eighth in homers (11) all-time at Union.

DiCaprio started 30-of-31 games during his sophomore season, posting a .270 batting average and recording 10 extra-base hits, 16 RBIs and 18 runs scored. The managerial economics major finished second on the team with a .408 on-base percentage and also hit three homers to finish third on the squad.

With the three honorees, Union student-athletes have now earned 253 Academic All-District honors since 2001.
