COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Four members of the Union College field hockey team were named to the 2025 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Preseason Watchlist, powered by Performance Sports Events, the NFHCA announced on Thursday.
All four of Union's All-Conference performers from last season – seniors
Sophie Brady and
Megan Dorsey, junior
Maddie Greco, and sophomore
Rowan Dapson – all were named to the NFHCA Watchlist, tying the Garnet Chargers with the University of Rochester for the most honorees among Liberty League squads. Only two schools in Division III have more players on the watchlist than Union, while five other teams join Union and Rochester with four.
Greco returns for her junior year after a record-setting sophomore season in which she broke school records for goals and points in a season with 20 goals and four assists for 44 points. The 2024 Liberty League Player of the Year and an NFHCA All-America second-team selection, Greco had the most goals of any first-year or sophomore in the country last season and finished tied for 11th overall in Division III in goals and 17th in points. In two seasons, she already ranks sixth in goals (33) and points (72) all-time at Union.
Brady returns to the net for Union as a senior after earning first-team All-Region honors during her junior season. She went 12-5 with an .817 save percentage and 1.38 goals against average last season, ranking 17th in Division III in save percentage and 37th in goals against average. The senior is three wins away from breaking the school's career record and also brings a career 1.80 goals against average into her final season.
Dorsey joins Greco in being named to the watchlist for the second year in a row after a second-straight All-Region recognition in 2024. As a junior, Dorsey led the Liberty League with eight assists and added three goals for 14 points, serving as the team's top offensive and defensive threat in the midfield. Union's all-time leader in career assists, Dorsey brings a total of 16 goals and 22 assists for 54 points into her senior year.
Dapson is the lone Union sophomore to receive preseason recognition after earning All-Liberty League second-team honors as a rookie. She appeared in all 20 games as a key member of the defensive unit as a first-year, while also ranking second on the team with five assists and adding one goal.
Union received two first-place votes and 42 points to narrowly sit behind preseason favorite University of Rochester in the Liberty League preseason poll. The Garnet Chargers get the 2025 season underway on Friday with a 6 p.m. matchup at VTSU Castleton.
