POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Union College men's cross country team started the 2025 season with a third-place finish at the Vassar College Season Starter, held on Friday evening at Vassar Farm.
Union ended the day with 55 points, well ahead of SUNY New Paltz in fourth place. #12 New York University took top honors with 34 points, just ahead of runner-up Vassar (35 points).
Junior
Bretton Garrick paced the Garnet Chargers with a fourth-place finish, completing the 4K course in 12:44.7. Sophomore
Liam Fitzgibbon also earned a top-10 finish for Union by crossing the finish line in 13:00.0 to place ninth in the 56-runner field.
Three more Garnet Chargers finished in the top 20 as well. Senior
Will Plante placed 11th in 13:03.7, followed close behind by first-year
Greg Keane with a time of 13:09.3 in his collegiate debut to place 13th. Fellow first-year
Cole Lewek finished his first collegiate race in 13:16.5 to round out Union's scoring quintet.
Union will be back at Vassar Farm in two weeks, taking part in Vassar's Ron Stonitsch Invitational on September 13.
