Women's Soccer Earns Fifth Straight Academic Honor

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — For the fifth straight season, the Union College women's soccer team has been recognized for their success in the classroom by earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2024-25 school year, the organization announced last week.

To be eligible for the award, a team must have a combined grade point average greater than 3.0 during the previous academic year. Led by head coach Karen Perron, the Garnet Chargers easily cleared that threshold by boasting one of the top GPAs in the department at Union for the recently finished school year, finishing with a combined mark of 3.62.

Overall, Union is one of 414 women's teams in the nation to be recognized by United Soccer Coaches for the 2024-25 school year and is one of seven women's soccer teams in the Liberty League that earned the award.

Union's roster this year featured 15 Liberty League All-Academic Team selections, six CSC Academic All-District honorees, as well as Union's Academic Achivement Award (Addie Zimmerman) and Sophomore Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award (Maya Koster) winners.
