NEW YORK, N.Y. – Members of the Union College women's indoor track & field team reset two more school records and combined for nine season-best results at Saturday's non-scoring NYU D-III Invitational, hosted by New York University at the Armory.
Junior
Annabel Dobash smashed another school record for Union in the 3,000 meters on Saturday, taking over 13 seconds off the previous program standard by crossing the line in 10:16.18, good for a second-place finish out of 23 runners. First-year
Eilis McKenna also took over 10 seconds off her season-best time as well, qualifying for the Liberty League Championships with a 14th-place time of 10:55.38.
Junior
Kat Doran reset the program record in the 60-meter dash on Saturday as well, crossing the line in 8.184 in the prelims and the finals to place ninth overall. First-year
Benny Pierre Louis also finished in 8.88 seconds to post her top time of the season in the prelims.
Junior
Ashley Sheldon started off the day by running the 60-meter hurdles in 9.31 seconds, coming one place and five-hundredths of a second away from earning a spot in the finals. She was joined in the event by Pierre Louis, who set a new personal-best by finishing in 10.19 seconds to place 23rd.
Doran and Sheldon both had season-best efforts in the 200-meter dash as well, with Doran finishing 11th in 26.73 seconds and Sheldon coming in close behind in 26.77 seconds, which qualified her for the Liberty League Championships in the event.
Sophomore
Kyleigh Record took over two seconds off her season-best time in the 800 meters, finishing in 2:18.99 to earn a sixth-place finish, and first-year
Kate Monaco placed 13th in the event with a 2:27.23 finish.
First-year
Josephine Withbroe paced four Garnet Chargers in the mile, finishing in a season-best 5:46.71 to earn a spot in the top-20. Junior
Amelia Wagner (6:00.55) and sophomore
Isla Langsdorf (6:03.48) also earned top-30 finishes for Union in the event.
In the field events, first-year
Leah Scopteuolo-Rosen placed 18th in the high jump with a top mark of 1.40 meters, sophomore
Lauryn Johnson tossed the shot put 8.56 meters to place 22nd, and junior
Epephanie LaBoy earned a top-15 finish in the weight throw with a mark of 10.16 meters.
Union will have one more competition before the upcoming conference championships, as the team heads to Army West Point next Saturday.
