Muthersbaugh Claims ECAC Weekly Honor

DANBURY, Conn. – Union College men's hockey sophomore Ben Muthersbaugh earned the Laurel Lake Placid Forward of the Week award, the conference announced Monday morning.

Muthersbaugh scored three goals during Union's weekend sweep of Yale University and Brown University and helped his team close out February with a 6-1-1 record, unbeaten in its last six games.

Muthersbaugh tied senior Brandon Buhr for the team lead in goals momentarily on Friday against Yale, scoring the first goal of the game and the game-tying goal. His fifth multi-goal game of the season set the table for Buhr's overtime score and team-leading 18th of the season.

Muthersbaugh caught up to Buhr in the goal department once more on Saturday, scoring his 18th of the year. The Gilford, N.H. native scored a goal in back-to-back games for the fourth time in 2025-26, paving the way for his third Forward of the Week award from the league this season.

Thanks in part to Muthersbaugh's second weekly award in February and eight goals in the final month of the regular season, the Garnet Chargers moved up to the #5 seed in the ECAC Hockey Tournament and will host Brown in the Opening Round on Saturday, March 7 at 5 p.m.
