MAHWAH, N.J. – The Union College women's outdoor track & field team got its 2026 season underway this weekend at the Ramapo Invitational, held on Friday and Saturday at the Ramapo Athletic Center.
The Garnet Chargers started the year strong with four results qualifying for the Liberty League Championships and six top-10 finishes overall. Union finished in a tie for 14th out of 28 scoring teams with 16 points over the two days.
On Friday's first day of competition, sophomore
Charlotte Knight started off the weekend by taking fifth place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing in 13:47.01 to book the team's first spot at Liberty Leagues. She was matched with a fifth-place finish in the javelin throw by sophomore
Lauryn Johnson with a top distance of 33.16 meters.
Junior
Kat Doran earned a spot in the finals of the 100-meter dash with a conference championship-qualifying time of 12.82 seconds in the prelims, good for sixth overall. She finished the finals in 13.18 seconds to place seventh. The junior also qualified in the 200-meter dash thanks to a time of 26.80 seconds, which placed her 10th overall out of 51 competitors.
Union posted a pair of top-10 finishes in the 800 meters, led by sophomore
Kyleigh Record with a time of 2:23.57 that earned her a third-place finish and earned her spot at Liberty Leagues. First-year
Kate Monaco also ran a solid race, taking ninth in 2:34.31.
Union will return a full squad to competition next Saturday at Utica University's Pioneer Spring Invitational.
