SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Members of the Union College men's and women's indoor track and field programs will head down to New York City for the 2026 All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Championships, hosted at the Armory on Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7.

Union will have seven student-athletes competing in a total of six events on the weekend, as the Garnet Chargers look to put up some points and potentially make a run at earning spots at the NCAA Championships.

Junior Ashley Sheldon is competing in a pair of individual events for the Union women, participating in the 60-meter hurdles on Friday and the high jump on Saturday. Her top specialty is the high jump, in which she is tied for the second seed after winning her second indoor conference title in three years with a top clearance of 1.68 meters. She also is in contention for a third straight trip to the NCAA Championships in the event, as her top mark is currently tied for 13th-best in Division III heading into the weekend. Sheldon is seeded 17th out of 42 runners in the 60 hurdles as well, thanks to her third program-record time of the year at Liberty Leagues (9.04 seconds) that placed her fourth overall in the conference and 64th nationally.

Also for the women, sophomore Kyleigh Record is entered in the 800 meters and is seeded 16th following her season-best time of 2:18.99 at the NYU D-III Invitational last month.

Union's only event with multiple participants is the men's 800 meters, with sophomore Liam Fitzgibbon and junior Michael Fitzmaurice representing the Garnet Chargers. Fitzgibbon is seeded 16th in the 37-runner field after a personal-best time of 1:55.55 recorded at the NYU D-III Invitational in February, while Fitzmaurice ran a season-best 1:57.84 at the Liberty League Championships last weekend to book his spot and is seeded 29th.

Junior Nate Okwaning qualified for regionals in the 60-meter dash with an All-Conference run at the Liberty League Championships. His time of 7.00 seconds places him 32nd out of 41 runners this weekend.

The Garnet Chargers also will look to make a mark in the men's distance medley relay, as the quartet of Fitzgibbon, Fitzmaurice, and juniors Bretton Garrick and Jackson Klehr will look to improve upon their time of 10:27.22 (converted to 10:18.82 due to track size) at the Liberty League Championships.
