ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Junior
Nate Okwaning earned All-Conference honors in the 60-meter dash to help the Union College men's indoor track & field team to a sixth-place finish at the Liberty League Indoor Track & Field Championships, held at Rochester Institute of Technology's Gordon Field House on Friday and Saturday.
Union earned points in three events on Saturday to finish the weekend in sixth place with 22 points, 30 points back of St. Lawrence University in fifth and 13 points clear of Vassar College in seventh. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute took top honors with a team score of 203.
Okwaning entered the finals of the 60-meter dash with the eighth-fastest time but made a huge leap up the leaderboard in the finals, finishing in a personal-best 7.00 seconds to place third and earn All-Liberty League honorable mention. His time was just nine-hundredths of a second off the program record set last season and also earned him a trip to the AARTFC Indoor Championships next week.
Sophomore
Liam Fitzgibbon and junior
Michael Fitzmaurice both earned points for Union in the 800 meters, combining for six points. Fitzgibbon placed fifth out of 18 runners with a time of 1:57.19, followed by Fitzmaurice earning the final spot on the podium by finishing in 1:57.84.

Okwaning also took 12th place in the 200-meter dash as well for Union, clocking in at 22.87 seconds. He was joined in the 200 by classmate
Aaron Binion, who took 16th place with a time of 22.98 seconds.
Junior
Bretton Garrick and first-year
Cole Lewek represented Union in the 3,000 meters, with Garrick placing 21st in 8:55.64 and Lewek taking 23rd with a season-best time of 9:08.26.
Senior
Mason Lang led three entries in the weight throw with a top-10 finish, posting a top toss of 14.30 meters to place 10th. Classmates
Nick Entner (13.17 meters) and
Tony Cocchiaro (11.69 meters) both earned top-20 finishes for the Garnet Chargers as well in the event.
Qualified student-athletes will continue the indoor season next Friday and Saturday at the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Championships at the Armory in New York City.
