Five from Women's XC/Track Earn CSC Academic All-District

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Five members of the Union College women's cross country and track & field teams were recognized for their achievements in competition as well as their success in the classroom with spots on the 2025-26 Academic All-District Track & Field and Cross Country Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators and announced on Tuesday.

Juniors Annabel DobashKat Doran and Ashley Sheldon all picked up Academic All-District honors for the second straight year, while sophomores Charlotte Knight and Kyleigh Record both earned the recognition for the first time in their careers.

To be nominated for College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must rank in the top 50 in their region in a single individual event in cross country, indoor track or outdoor track; maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher; and reach sophomore athletic and academic standing at the school. Additionally, Sheldon was selected as a CSC Academic All-America finalist and will advance to the national ballot, the results of which will be announced next month.

Sheldon excelled for Union in both indoor and outdoor track as a junior, combining for four USTFCCCA All-Region honors, two Liberty League titles, four program records and earning first-team All-America recognition in the indoor high jump. During the indoor season, she was named the Liberty League Field Athlete of the Year after placing third in the high jump at the NCAA Championships, which came after winning the event at both Liberty Leagues and the AARTFC Championships. She also set new program records in the indoor high jump and the 60-meter hurdles, and mirrored that accomplishment by setting new high jump and 100-meter hurdles standards during the outdoor season. Sheldon won another conference title in the high jump and qualified for the NCAAs outdoors as well.

Doran was Union's top sprinter in both the indoor and outdoor seasons in her third season, finishing the year with two new school records to her credit. She set a program standard with a time of 8.09 in the 60-meter dash at the Liberty League Championships to rank 24th in the Mideast Region and also ranked 35th regionally in the 200-meter dash. She reset the program record in the 100-meter dash during the outdoor season as well, ranking 24th regionally with a time of 12.47 seconds, while also ranking in the top-50 regionally in the 400-meter dash.

Dobash had another solid season as one of the squad's top distance runners, boasting three top-50 regional times and breaking a pair of program records on the track while also pacing the cross country team in five races. She reset program standards in both the 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters during the indoor season, running the 3K in 10:16.18 at the NYU D-III Invitational and the 5K in 18:23.80 at the BU John Thomas Terrier Classic to rank 26th and 28th in the region, respectively. She also added the team's best 1,500-meter time of the season outdoors, finishing 35th regionally with a time of 4:48.56.

Record led the mid-distance charge for Union as a sophomore, earning top-20 regional finishes in both indoor and outdoor track while placing top-two on the team in all seven cross country races. She finished 20th in the region in the indoor 800 meters after finishing in 2:18.99 at the NYU D-III Invitational, and then broke the school outdoor 800 record with a personal-best time of 2:15.35 at the Liberty League Championships, the 11th-best time in the Mideast Region this season. She also finished 37th regionally in the outdoor 1,500 meters as well.

Knight rounds out the Union quintet after earning her way into the regional top-50 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, posting a season-best time of 12:49.05 at the RPI Under the Lights Invitational.

With the five honorees, Union student-athletes have now earned 331 Academic All-District honors since 2001.
