ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Union College women's cross country team accumulated five of the top-16 individual scorers as the Garnet Chargers took second place out of 11 teams at the season-opening Fred Pavlich Invitational, hosted by Bard College at Montgomery Place on Saturday morning.
 
Union finished the morning with 50 points, well clear of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (89 points) in third place and trailing only USTFCCCA #11 Vassar College (19 points).
 
Senior Annabel Dobash led the way for the Garnet Chargers, traversing the 5K course in 20:03.0 to place third in the field of 90 runners. She was joined in the top-10 by sophomore Eilis Mckenna, who finished sixth with a time of 20:34.8 to give Union the only two non-Vassar runners in the top-seven.
 
First-years Lily Harrow and Emma Barnes started their collegiate careers with top-15 finishes as well, with Harrow placing 13th in 21:10.4 and Barnes coming in less than two seconds later in 21:12.0 to place 14th. Sophomore Kate Monaco rounded out Union's scoring quintet with a 17th-place finish, ending the race in 21:29.6.
 
Union will be back in action next Saturday at Vassar's Ron Stonitsch Invitational.
