Madison , WI - The fourth ranked University of Wisconsin Badgers (12-3-4) defeated the Union College Dutchmen 8-1 in the semifinals of the 15 th annual Badger Showdown at the KOHL Center this evening.

The Dutchmen dominated the game's early action and got on the board first when sophomore Jason Visser ( Mississauga, Ontario) scored his fifth goal of the season eleven minutes into the first period. From that point forward it was all Wisconsin, as seven different Badgers found the net. The loss drops the Dutchmen to 7-6-3 on the season.

Sophomore A.J. Degenhardt (LaCrosse, WI) led the way for Wisconsin, scoring his fourth and fifth goals of the season, while also picking up his third assist. Senior defenseman Dan Boeser (Savage, MN) had a four point night, scoring his fourth goal, and contributing three assists to bring his season total to 10.

Union sophomore goaltender Kris Mayotte (Finleyville, PA) (5-7-3) took the loss, making 27 saves, while Wisconsin freshman Brian Elliot (Newmarket, Ontario) made 14 saves and stayed perfect (3-0-0) on the season with the win.
