SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Union College gained momentum early in the contest by sweeping all of the doubles matches en route to a 5-4 victory over SUNY Oneonta at the Oneonta courts Tuesday afternoon.

The team win was the second of the season in seven matches for the Dutchwomen, while the Red Dragons fell to 4-3.

Union started off the day in style with an 8-1 victory by Jennie Werts (New York, NY/Fieldston School) and Jess Meola (Hartsdale, NY/Ardsley). The #2 doubles team of Brittany Miller (Scituate, MA/Scituate) and Kathleen Rucci (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) was victorious, 8-4, and the Dutchwomen completed the doubles sweep with an 8-4 win by the #3 tandem of Jenny Riskin (Riverside, CT/Greenwich).

Oneonta staged a comeback with wins in the first and second singles, but Miller won at #3 singles, 6-0 and 6-1. Union's final triumph came at #5 singles as Sarah Stiles (Rochester, NY/Sutherland) won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.

Union will compete in the ITA's at Williams College on Friday.
