Potsdam, NY First-year head coach Bill Brahler and the Union women's tennis team got their season off to a convincing start by defeating Clarkson 8-1 at Snell Courts on Saturday afternoon. Junior Jennie Werts (New York, NY/Fieldston School) set the tone in No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-3 win over her opponent. Sophomre Jenny Dalenta (Tolland, CT/Tolland) and junior Kelly Fitzpatrick (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) both won their matches 6-1, 6-0 in No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Union looks to make it two straight when they face St. Lawrence tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
