St. Lawrence posts Liberty League women's tennis win

CANTON, NY -- St. Lawrence, the host school in the 2006 Liberty League Women's Tennis Championship Tournament, won 5-1 over Union in a second round consolation match.

Union's lone victory came in #5 singles, as Hallie Mabrey (Needham, MA/Dana Hall) defeated Candice Vallejos, 6-0, 6-1. It was Mabrey's first collegiate career singles victory.

Double winners for the Saints were Kirsten Lannon and Liz Karam, who each also won in singles. Also, Vallejos and Chelsea Hubbell won in doubles as did Denise Kyte and Sara Bernier.

Union faces RPI in the seventh place match on Sunday.
