CANTON, NY -- The Dutchwomen swept the three doubles matches, as Union defeated Rensselaer, 5-4 to finish seventh place at the 2006 Liberty League Women's Tennis Championship Tournament Sunday.
Brittany Miller (Scituate, MA/Greenwich) won in straight sets at #2 singles, 6-4, 6-2, while Hallie Mabrey (Needham, MA/Dana Hall) took the #5 singles match, 6-2, 6-0. In doubles, Jessica Meola (Hartsdale, NY/Ardsley) joined Jennie Werts (New York, NY/Fieldston School) for the #1 singles victory, 8-4. Kelly Fitzpatrick (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) and Kathleen Rucci (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) won 8-2 at #2 doubles, and Mabrey and Lauren Trell (Bayside, NY/Friends Academy) teamed for an 8-5 win at #3 doubles.
Union, 2-7, closes out the season on October 11 when the Dutchwomen play at Russell Sage at 4 p.m.
