CANTON, MA -- Vassar, the top seed in the 2006 Liberty League Women's Tennis Championship Tournament, defeated Union, 5-0 in the first round at St. Lawrence University Saturday.
Union's Jennie Werts (New York, NY/Fieldston School) led Vassar's Debbie Shamak, 6-4 but the match did not finish. Kelly Graham of Vassar won her singles match and joined Debbie Sharnak for a doubles victory. Krista Romita and Elysa Kilman won in doubles and also each won a singles match.
The Dutchwomen face host St. Lawrence in a second round consolation match.
